"I hope that the United States of America is not so rich that she can afford to let these wildernesses pass by, or so poor she cannot afford to keep them."

Margaret Murie

The production of Forever Wild: Celebrating America’s Wilderness was made possible through the generous support of the following individuals and foundations:

The New-Land Foundation
Thomas and  Noël Congdon
The Hewlett Foundation
The Merlin Foundation
The Steven C. Leuthold Family Foundation
The Aspen Airport Business Foundation
The Maki Foundation
James and Hensley Peterson
Robert and Marcie Musser Fund of the Aspen Community Foundation
The Arches Foundation
The Catto Charitable Foundation
Mary Caulkins

James and Hensley Peterson

The fiscal sponsor for the production of the film was the First Light Foundation, a Colorado tax-exempt organization. The primary mission of the First Light Foundation is to fund non-commercial documentary films on social and environmental issues.

The Foundation raises and grants money to produce the type of programs that are distributed by the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and film festivals and which provide no renumeration to the film makers.  Even programming of vital importance to critical issues and proposed by an inspired filmmaker often will not be produced without the funding made possible by an exempt organization such as the First Light Foundation.
